Gateway Buddy Day 2017
The Gateway to Medicine program celebrated its’ annual Buddy Day event on 12/01/17.
Special thanks to Dr. Miriam Cusack and Ms. Kirsti Alvarez for organizing and facilitating this event.
Over 90 students participated in an event that introduced 9th and 10th grade Gateway students to the upperclassmen in the 10th and 11th grades.
Students participated in a “speed dating” exercise where the 9th and 10th graders rotated amongst tables of upper classmen.
Students culminated the event with a celebratory pizza party.
The Gateway to Medicine program is an honor’s society within the APRCHS Academy of Medicine.
Students are invited to participate in the program if they maintain an average of 85 or higher in all of their classes.
Gateway students have access to a variety of special events, like Buddy Day, which include:
1) Access to Gateway ONLY honors classes in Medical Academy electives
2) Access to Gateway ONLY after school tutoring and mentoring opportunities with current Sophie Davis Medical Students (@CCNY)
3) Access to Gateway ONLY internship experiences in the medical field
4) Access to special program facilitated by the CCNY Gateway Office. In the past this has included observing live surgeries and trips to the Gross Anatomy Lab.
